Original acrylic painting of Antelope Valley Joint Union High School, Lancaster CA.
The school was torn down in 1959. It was determined that it would not withstand an earthquake. However, in 1952 a major quake, that registered 7.3 in Tehachapi CA, did not damage the school. Numerous people have wondered if it was a political decision to award a local contractor the contract to raze the building and replace it… The school looks horrible now. No character at all.
As you can see in the painting the towers are starting to disappear. I just noticed—the tree on the right looks shocked by the destruction.
